How to Prevent or Manage Acne
Acne is a skin condition that occurs when your hair follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells. Acne causes whiteheads, blackheads or pimples, Acne does not discriminate almost anybody can get it at almost any age but it's most common among teenagers but if you're an adult reading this don't think you're above getting it but they are a lot of factors also that can lead to you getting it such as high humidity, puberty, genetics, diet, menstrual cycle, certain cosmetics, medication, rubbing skin to harshly, pressure from helmets etc there's so many variables to consider.
Personally I have never suffered with acne but I have been around friends and family member who suffer from severe acne and it really affects their mental health and confidence levels. Some people have often got depression and anxiety over it and never mind how it ruins self images and self esteem. Some people find it hard to love themselves because of who they see in the mirror, their reflection is a reminder of the person they don't want to be but that will change after reading this blog.
The purpose of is this blog isn't a to cure your acne I am not qualified in that sense but I will offer ways of preventing or minimising it because my blogs are dedicated to helping people become the best version of themselves.
Ways of preventing Acne
Food alone doesn't cause acne but the food you eat can be a factor in regards to the severity of it. Adopting a clean diet may help reduce it, highly processed foods and drinks should avoid as much as possible anyways for dietary reasons.
Incorporating a good skin care routine is beneficial if you have not already started but washing your face too much can make acne worse. When we strip our skin of its natural sebum with excess washing, it actually causes the skin to produce even more oil in order to rebalance your skin. Understand your skin type is key to getting ahead of the curve.
You also need to start moisturising if you have not already started as moisturising is important because if your skin becomes dry it will produce oil in excess to counterbalance and this can indeed cause pimples. When shopping for moisturiser it is best to avoid ones that contain oil, synthetic fragrance or other ingredients. If you are prone to acne or have sensitive skin in general its best to avoid moisturiser with loads of ingredients, the less ingredients the better it is for you.
You must stay hydrated at all times, dehydration is a huge factor in acne because you body may signal your skin oil glands to produce more oil to combat the dehydration so your pimples or whiteheads so you run a risk of getting inflamed or red spots. If you do heated classes or exercise frequently you will need to drink more water throughout the day to replenish your body.
Acne is a confidence destroyer for many people especially females, so in attempt to make themselves feel better they may wear makeup in an attempt to cover up pimples but this may not be the best solution to your problem because doing so may clog your pores and trigger outbreaks. If you do decided to go ahead with the makeup route I would suggest using products that have as little ingredients as possible or fregrance free products. Be should be mindful of any other products you might be using near your face, particularly hair styling products. Hair spray, dry shampoo, and texturizing products can come in contact with your skin and cause outbreaks.
Do not pop you're pimple as much as you're tempted to do not pop it let it run it course and also change your pillow case at least once week if you're not doing so already. I am not going to recommend any medication for you because I do not have enough knowledge on that so I would recommend asking or booking an appointment with a specialist to get further treatment. Do not be disheartened if you have acne it can be treated.
