Why The Scales Are Misleading
I believe that weighing scales often do more bad than good to peoples mental health. I don't have the research to back it up but I am certain weighing scales have massively contributed to the destruction of peoples mental health.
Before you eat my head off and get all defensive listen to what I have to say. Weighing scales are good for tracking your weight in kilograms or pounds especially if you're in a competitive sport that requires it to make a certain weight class.
Unless you are in the category I just mentioned you do not need to obsess over the scales, you just need to look at it periodically. In my experience from dealing with clients especially females they check the scales everyday morning and night but don't realise that they are on the path of self destruction. Once you get into that habit, things start to get dark for you mentally because you start to develop expectation that is rarely ever met some days the scale drops, some days it stays the same and most common is that you've actually put on weight but most people do not take into account that there's a lot of factors at play such as water retention, the development of muscle, bloating, meals, sleep, digestion, ovulation, activity levels and pregnancy.
Do not ruin your day by jumping on the scale first thing in the morning don't do that to yourself, there's healthier ways of tracking your progress in my opinion such as pictures. Progress pictures are incremental to track your progress because you can visually track what's working and what's not. Weighing scale don't think take into account muscle growth incase you didn't know muscle weighs more than fat so if you developed more muscle recently you will be heavier.
Learn to be happy with the progress you're making, learn to be patient but also seek more knowledge as you work.
